I'll have to take a look at my mainframe to see if this is feasible at this point in time. As a matter of fact I'm working on adding in this type of hardware right at this moment but I haven't got the right patch cords connected in yet. But, the gorilla in the room is that this program and this content will be copywrite protected. So probably, it would be much better off to see if the radio station would flip you a copy, and/or it's transcript. Some will as it's free advertising, some, well......? Tomlinson *might* be able to help us out, but after the way some here have treated him, [I'm not pointing any fingers at anybody specifically here.], well I don't think that he'd be inclined to help any of us out. If I can reverse engineer it, I'll let you know as soon as I can, but I'd be strongly inclined to say that it would probably be best to get the copywrite approval first. Which is why they put in the *no save to target tag* in the on-line recording in the first place. Calling firearms "weapons" stigmatizes all legal firearms owners as dangerous weapon-toting criminals. The fact that this resolution was supported by Liberal delegates underlines and emphasizes the Liberal Party's ongoing failure to recognize and understand the fact that legal, law-abiding firearms owners are not the problem, nor should they be victimized unjustly without exhibiting any criminal action. Please explain. I take your concern with my purported "overstatement" to be the=20 declaration that the Conservative's Bill C-21 "is worse than the=20 Liberals' Bill C-68," not that we should have "open season" with our=20 MP's. First, I DID offer a major qualification. I stated parenthetically that I was expressing MY opinion. Which I was hoping that you would perceive as a mild criticism of your=20= statement: "notwithstanding that C-21 is inevitable. It is therefore beyond our=20 control at this juncture to either modify or vacate the enactment of this=20 legislation..." about the alleged inevitability of Bill C-21. I do NOT see Bill C-21 as "inevitable," which was the main post of my=20 posting. But as I have posted, "The Conservatives' Bill C-21 is worse than the Liberals' Bill C-68," as the banner on CUFOA's WebSite, http://www.cufoa.ca/ and I did NOT intent the statement as hyperbole, I need to address your very valid concerns. My EXTREME disappointment with Mr. Day's Bill C-21 is generated by=20 several factors: (1) Squandered Opportunity: Al Muir, several other CUFOA members, & I were in Ottawa on 16 May 2006=20= specifically to witness the Auditor General present her Report on the=20 Firearms Act. In her Report Ms. Fraser conclusively demonstrated the horrendous cost=20= overruns which Mr. Breitkreuz had been carefully documenting for the=20 past eleven years. Immediately after the Auditor General's Report, on 17 May 2006, Mr. Day used this opportunity to introduce his Bill C-21. Stated as a fact (in my opinion), Mr. Day thereby squandered the very=20 best opportunity to introduce legislation to repeal The Firearms Act -=20= Bill C-68. (Please bear in mind that this was prior to Dawson College.) (2) Effects of Bill C-21 (a) Bill C-21 Divides and Conquers By removing registration while keeping licensing Bill C-21 effectively=20= divides those persons who are "soft" on licensing (by giving them=20 "something" with a slight promise of more to follow) from those of us=20 who will never accept licensing. (b) Bill C-21 Endorses Licensing Bill C-21 still turns a lawful activity (possession of a firearm) into=20= a crime. By NOT nullifying licensing, Bill C-21 endorses licensing. Listen to what Dr. Gary Mauser of Simon Fraser University has to say=20 about licensing: =93Our traditional culture is slowly being killed by the tightening grip=20= of unnecessary firearms laws.=94 =93Licensing gives the government a strangle hold on who can participate=20= in firearm ownership. Licensing - including the strict and expensive=20 courses in firearms safety - is a major reason for shrinking numbers of=20= firearms owners. =93We will become just a small band of elite shooters ... in the same=20 situation as in the United Kingdom. The lessons are there before our=20 eyes. Just by arbitrarily tightening up the standards, the government=20 can cause gun ownership to disappear. =93Registration does not work ... Licensing does not work either, and=20 licensing is destroying us. =93Do not let your guns be taken away from you by accepting firearms=20 licensing. We should never rest until the Firearms Act is repealed. If we try to compromise with Ottawa they will just take what we offer=20 and squeeze us for more.=94 =93Registration is bad, but licensing is worse. Licensing will eventually kill the Canadian tradition of owning=20 firearms." I too am open to further discussion regarding the evils of Bill C-21. Sincerely, Eduardo BILL C-21, AN ACT TO AMEND THE CRIMINAL CODE AND THE FIREARMS ACT (NON-REGISTRATION OF FIREARMS THAT ARE NEITHER PROHIBITED NOR RESTRICTED) Wade Riordan Raaflaub Law and Government Division INTRODUCTION AND HIGHLIGHTS Bill C-21, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Firearms Act=20 (non-registration of firearms that are neither prohibited nor=20 restricted), received first reading in the House of Commons on 19 June=20= 2006.(2) Its primary objective is to repeal the requirement to obtain=20= and hold a registration certificate for a non-restricted firearm(3)=20 (i.e., long gun, shotgun, hunting rifle, etc.). Under Bill C-21 ... a person transferring a non-restricted firearm to=20= an individual will [still] be required to seek an authorization from=20 the Chief Firearms Officer, who will verify that the recipient is=20 entitled to possess the firearm. As a registration certificate will no longer be required to possess a=20 non-restricted firearm, certain offences in the Firearms Act are=20 amended or repealed. The Criminal Code is also amended so that failure=20= to hold a registration certificate for a non-restricted firearm does=20 not give rise to any of the offences relating to unauthorized=20 possession of a firearm, and does not allow police to seize a firearm. Bill C-21 it does not change the requirement for all individuals to=20= hold a licence in order to possess a firearm, and therefore to undergo=20= a background check and pass any required safety course.(4) Additionally, Bill C-21 will allow for regulations to require firearms=20= businesses to record transactions relating to non-restricted firearms >>> ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2007 18:34:50 -0800 From: "Todd Birch" Subject: re:Kim Walker There is a precedent in law relevant to this decision. Going back to the late 70s in BC, two Maple Ridge fathers shot and killed a pair of Quebec based drug dealers who had been dealing drugs to teens out of their car. One of their girls had a very bad experience with them and had to be hospitalized. The fathers arranged to meet the dealers at a remote location, pulled out a gun and shot them. They went to directly to RCMP and led them to the scene. In the trial, they expressed no remorse, saying that this was a pair of dealers who wouldn't be selling to any more kids. The judge said while he couldn't condone their actions as it would mean 'open season' on drug dealers, he understood the motivation. The men were convicted of manslaughter.
