[Image] NFA PERMISSION IS GRANTED TO COPY AND DISTRIBUTE THESE PAGES VOLUME XII, NUMBER 10 1995, OCTOBER EDITORIAL BBS: We have been notified that there is another BBS in Ontario run by an NFA member that includes much NFA material. Tel: (905) 577-6185. RIFLE WINNER: The Winner of the RCMP rifle that was donated to a local group to raffle off was Lynn Cournoyer of BC. Thank you very much Lynn. C-68 MEETING: Professor H. Taylor Buckner will be the feature speaker at the Faculty Club of McGill University, 3450 McTavish St. Montreal, PQ at 7:45pm on 17 Oct, 1995. It is strongly suggested that as many as possible attend from our side to support him because you may be sure the opposition will be there in force. If we keep our comments totally factual we cannot help but win this one. A $5.00 donation is requested for admission. WOMEN SPORT SHOOTERS OF CANADA: This new organization is looking for members. While primarily aimed at women, male supporters are also welcome. This group could become a very strong counter to our main opposition and deserve all the support we can give them. We suggest that all women in any way on our side send their $10.00 membership fee to 15-2055 Dundas Street East, Mississauga ON, L4X 2V9. FINANCIAL STATEMENT 1993/1994: So there are no misconceptions about the financial status of the NFA, bear in mind the following. The statement shows a year end balance on hand of $151,858.40. However that does not take into account the necessay reserves to ensure continued mailing to members for the next year or the necessary reserve for Life Member servicing. These amounts are approximately $79,000 and $26,000 respectively. When these are deducted we show a positive balance of approximately $46,900. Healthy yes but a lot of things have happened in 1995 and are yet to happen. MEMBERSHIP INCREASE: We had hoped that this would not be necessary but have had no choice. Senior memberships are increasing considerably. With a fee of $15 and a servicing cost of approximately $24, we felt we had to do something in this area. Consequently this fee only has been increased to $20 a year. Still quite a bargain. THE "POLITICAL ACTION" BOOK IS HERE This book is called "PARTY TIME! - An Irreverant Guide to Political Activism for the Canadian Firearms Community." The NFA was given the task of producing a political book for the Canadian firearms community at the 13 Aug 95 Toronto meeting. We can never win our fight by talking about guns or gun control. We are being attacked politically, and must deal with politics. Our political system places great power in the hands of tiny, unrepresentative groups called Riding Associations (or some similar name). These groups are too small, too unrepresentative of average Canadians, and they have too much political power. If 10 per cent of all firearms owners of 1/2 of all gun club members join the Riding Association of their choice, we will form the majority in every political party in Canada. That is a goal worth pursuing. This book tells you how to do it. This concentrated but humorous look at our political system contains 14 pages (8 1/2"x11") of text. They describe clearly hopw our political system of selecting and electing politicians actually works, and explains how raw political power is available to anyone with enough intelligence to grasp it - for $10 per year! The book also contains a 9-page set: "Bylaws for a Riding Association" - usable in any political party. The Bylaws lock the Riding Association into important reforms and methods of selection of candidates, enough to horrify most politicians. The day of "tame" Riding Associations is over. We are in the middle of a political upheaval that has little to do with us, and which most politicians do not understand. This book explains our part of what is happening. It tells you where to get more information on this upheaval - and how to use it. The book describes 21st century techniques for a complete change in how our political system operates - by changing the size, nature and membership of Riding Associations. It's actually easy. Local gun clubs can take control of local MPs. PARTY TIME! ORDER FORM PRICE: 1 to 10, $2 each; 11 to 50, $1.25 each; over 51, $1 each.
