RIGHT NOW!" I would tend to agree that "riding into Toronto with handguns blazing" would most likely NOT be an idea we should want to pursue, but I would suggest that right now would be the proper time to discuss ALL IDEAS. Some times the best idea comes from an improvement on what seemed at first a bad idea. In CUFOA we have advocated that we are never going to be able to surrender enough to appease the "gun control" advocates who want to eliminate firearms ownership in Canada. Until we repeal the ENTIRE Firearms Act - -especially licensing - and secure our Right to "Armes for their Defense", then we need to be willing to go to jail. Sincerely, Edward B. While it is a shame that the opposition parties will not recognize the futility, and indeed the sheer waste of the long gun registry, the amnesty program is indeed, absolutely the right move. The Liberals' gun registry was not directed at criminal use of firearms, but instead simply created a new class of criminal, the law-abiding kind. There were no public safety gains implemented by the Canadian Firearms Act over the old FAC regime, and millions of Canadians now face the spectre of criminal charges over the simple failure to renew a licence. It is time to end this expensive charade, and start dealing with the real criminals appropriately. ROBERT S.
