The Canada Border Services Agnecy said four handguns were discovered at the Pigeon River Port of Entry, which is near Grand Portage, on Aug. 12. Officers found a loaded handgun in the bedroom of a motorhome, two loaded handguns in the motorhome's bathroom, and another handgun in a vehicle being towed behind the motorhome. Two canisters of pepper spray were found in the tow vehicle as well. The motorhome traveller, John Harold Hargreaves of Crystal River, Florida, spent four days in Canadian prison before pleading guilty to failing to report the firearms and carrying a concealed weapon. He was sentenced to time served plus a $4,000 fine. In a separate incident at Pigeon River, authorities allegedly found parts of a semi-automatic firearm dispersed throughout a vehicle on Aug. 14. Zachary Kennedy Williams, of Culver, Oregon, was charged with failing to report, willful evasion, possession of prohibited goods, and smuggling. He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in a Thunder Bay courtroom next month. Meanwhile, a loaded revolver was allegedly found in a vehicle at the Fort Frances border crossing on Aug. 14. Eric Michael Groner of Cleveland, Texas, was charged with failing to report, willful evasion, possession of prohibited goods, and smuggling. He was also released on bail and is scheduled to appear in a Fort Frances courtroom next week. Travellers entering Canada are required to declare firearms at border inspection stations. Windsor police are getting the GPS-enabled alarms to give to high-risk victims for their protection. The device can alert police of their location when they feel threatened. The alarm, which is the size of a small pager, is integrated with Google maps so that police dispatchers can direct officers to the victim's location. The Windsor police force is receiving a provincial grant for $7,267, made possible from property forfeited under the Civil Remedies Act, to pay for the devices. Recently, a Calgary man in his 60's did fend off a violent intruder of his home. He used a .22 rifle, and did the most reasonable thing, he fired shots to ward off the intruder. The police have charged Mr. Bouchie with unsafe storage and dangerous use of a firearm. This extreme prejudice that police perpetuate against honest gun owners must be stopped. Ian Thompson has experienced crippling financial loss defending himself against similar charges. In my home town of Prince George B.C., a Chief Firearms Officer named Ron Hardy was observed BULLYING non-restricted gun buyers AND gun sellers, as well as other exhibitors at the Prince George B.C. Gun show this year and last. C.F.O. Hardy did harass one 78 year old firearms licensing instructor, who is a veteran of the gun owner licensing regime that apparently YOU fully support. Hardy threatened to confiscate this exhibitor's P.A.L. I was informed by this man, he will never return to Prince George again at any future gun shows. Also, a woman in her 60's was bullied to tears, as C.F.O. Hardy pressured her to have trigger locks on long guns displayed, while her P.A.L. Licensed husband was away temporarily in the bathroom. C.F.O. Hardy did harass at least half of the 120 or so exhibitors about this. No charges were laid. If this trigger lock requirement for long guns on display is a grey area, as I strongly suspect it is, This may explain WHY enforcement is not resulting in any charges being laid. My own understanding is that trigger lock requirements pertain directly to restricted firearms only, and that these rogue Chief Firearms Officers are interpreting the law however suits them, as they have no reservations whatsoever about harassing responsible, honest, vetted gun owners. Why are these unelected bureaucrats permitted to continue to create law in Canada? When I confronted Mr. Hardy about this behavior, I was asked, "who the f**k are you?" as if I needed some special authority or status to question Mr. Hardy about his obnoxious behavior. I have written twice about this issue, and have as yet received no response. The elimination of the "long gun registry"ť has not signaled the end of the ongoing harassment of honest gun owners by police, the courts, or the Chief Firearms Officers. I require to be informed of what actions will be taken against C.F.O. Ron Hardy. He is an obnoxious tyrant who is drunk on his authority. As are the police in Mr. Bouchie and Mr. Thomson's case. -apology to Mr. Bouchie if I have mis-spelled his name. Will this Prime Minister simply ignore this problem, or will real action be taken to protect regular law abiding citizens from the government BULLIES? sincerely. R.S.V.P. Photograph by: Greg Pender, The Starphoenix, The Starphoenix A Saskatoon man's life is in danger after he did what no other Canadian business owner has dared to attempt - he got rid of the Hells Angels. And from now on, anyone working for Xtreme Mining and Demolition will be required to deny in writing any connection to a "criminal organization" such as the Hells Angels. "If you are associated with these type of groups, we've got a problem. You are out of here," said Xtreme owner Leonard Banga. The Hells Angels were purged from Xtreme's ranks following multiple death threats and other intimidation, as well as attacks on Banga and an employee. Banga said he's got nothing against the Hells Angels, pointing to his longtime friendships with several "full patch" members. But when Banga learned of the threats and violence, he knew he had to act decisively to protect his employees and his business. The Hells Angels, through their lawyer, say the new policy is unfair. Others disagree. "I hope everyone supports (Banga). He has balls. This is how a community starts to stand up to organized crime," said author and international Hells Angels expert Yves Lavigne. The StarPhoenix interviewed Xtreme employees and obtained company records and government documents detailing a secret culture of violence. Now, with the possibility of revenge looming, Saskatoon police have issued Banga a rare "Duty to Warn." Police informed Banga his life is in danger. He remains unmoved. "What are they gonna do - burn my house down? Do something to me? They'd all attract attention and get thrown in jail. They don't want that." More than a dozen Hells Angels have worked for Xtreme in the past decade. When Banga won his first few contracts, mainly at Saskatchewan potash mines, he looked for the best workers available. Some Hells Angels were on the crew of the previous contractor. Banga, who has attended the weddings, funerals and parties of Hells Angels members, hired them for their skills and didn't care what they did away from work. There were no obvious problems until last fall. That's when an Agrium Vanscoy potash worker caught an Xtreme employee sleeping on the job. The sleeping employee - a senior member of the Hells Angels - threatened to harm the Agrium worker should he report the incident. Undeterred, the Agrium worker reported both the incident and the threat, Banga and other workers said. Banga was informed. The Hells Angel was dismissed from the work site and fired from Xtreme shortly after. "We were very satisfied with the speed at which it was handled," said Gavin Rans, human resources manager for Agrium. Rans said mining is "inherently dangerous," so it's imperative to have as safe a workplace as possible. But that wasn't the end of the conflict. The firing led to a roadside confrontation on New Year's Eve. The fired worker wanted to talk to Banga. They met at a Corman Park gas station but there were police cars in the parking lot, so they stopped farther away on the shoulder of the highway, said Banga. The worker asked for his job back. Banga refused. "The whole time he was saying the club was going to get me," Banga said. Banga said the Hells Angel punched him in the face and continued to attack him. Banga fought back, eventually subduing the man in a chokehold in the ditch. Banga said it wasn't the first time Hells Angels on his staff had tried to intimidate him. One threatened him after he refused to endorse the man for certification to work with explosives, known as a "blasting ticket." Banga started to ask his other employees about the Hells Angels, and learned the problem was widespread. Many workers, perhaps emboldened by the owner confronting a Hells Angel, reported death threats against them and their families. Two Xtreme employees told The Star-Phoenix threats often included promises that the "club" was going to come after them. One Hells Angel alone threatened, in separate incidents, a dozen co-workers with violence if they didn't do what he wanted, they said. Banga asked employees to fill out a company harassment report. One detailed a January, 2013 incident at the Cory potash mine. An Xtreme worker was sitting at a lunch room table when a Hells Angels "hang-around" attacked him. The worker was choked until he passed out. The attacker "keeps on bragging of what he did," stated the form, which included the names of two co-workers who witnessed the incident. The form stated "no employees would discuss the situation" until after Banga was also attacked. One question asked the employee his desired outcome. He wrote that he wants "a safe workplace for everyone to feel comfortable with and earn a good living for our families." The question asking whether the employee wanted the matter referred to police was left blank. Banga said many of the employees told him verbally they didn't want police involved. Other reports detailed threats and even an attack against another employee, according to a company summary sheet. One worker would "always mention he was a Hells Angel" and threaten to kill co-workers, it stated. Another would wear a neck chain with a skull - a Hells Angels symbol - over his work shirt, or wear a tank-top shirt exposing his skull tattoo. Banga reported the incidents to provincial regulators. In January, he took the unusual step of requesting a harassment and workplace safety investigation into his own company. A two-page report was written by the provincial government's chief inspector of mines, Neil Crocker. Crocker said an investigation by the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety confirmed the threats against Banga and the workers. One Hells Angel responsible for many of the threats was told he can no longer work as a mine supervisor for any Saskatchewan company. "This investigation confirmed that you had threatened several workers and your employer. As a result, your supervisor ticket is suspended," Crocker wrote. The letter was copied to Banga, mine supervisors and others. Mike Carr, deputy minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, said it's "not unheard of" for an employer to request an investigation, but it's much more common for employees to ask for help. He said employers may want an independent third party to validate their concerns, or to provide expertise on issues such as harassment. Carr declined to discuss the Xtreme case, citing government policy. He said the decisions "speak for themselves." Saskatoon Hells Angels leader Don Secord, as well as other club members, declined to comment about Xtreme. When contacted, Secord repeatedly asked who gave this information to The StarPhoenix. Secord then referred questions to the club's Saskatoon lawyer, Morris Bodnar. Bodnar said his clients are hard-working, law-abiding citizens and the new policy is unfair. "What are they supposed to do? Do you want them on welfare?" he asked. Bodnar said one of the men causing problems was not a full Hells Angel, but simply a "hang-around." A hang-around is the first step in the multi-year process of becoming a "full patch" member, according to Saskatoon police, Lavigne and other literature. The province of Ontario, various Canadian and U.S. government agencies and law enforcement officials have labelled the Hells Angels a criminal organization. Lawyers for Hells Angels chapters, including Bodnar, have repeatedly disputed the label. They say a small number of members may be involved in drug dealing or violence, but they are acting as individuals. "The Hells Angels are a criminal organization? Some judges have said yes. I say no," Bodnar said. To get on top of the situation, Banga consulted with some of his previous employers who mined diamonds or sold explosives. He studied how they screened their employees. In June, he and his managers were in the midst of drafting a new policy when another conflict occurred between himself and the fired worker. "I knew I had to do something. They were trying to use their connections with the Hells Angels to their advantage," Banga said. The next day, he got lawyers to critique the new rules and finished a final draft. One day later, on June 26, Banga called his 200 employees to a meeting room at the Confederation Inn. With several Hells Angels in the audience, Banga said the harassment and threats had created an unsafe workplace. It had to stop, he said. All workers were laid off and had to reapply for their jobs. They submitted to a criminal record check, drug and alcohol testing, an external interview and a seven-part questionnaire. The "New Hires Questions" form asks about work and family background, previous employers' opinions and has a space for worker comments. Question 6 notes that Xtreme does "blasting" contract work in Canada and the U.S. It then asks "... are you an active member or participate in an organization that is deemed a criminal organization according to the Federal Government of Canada, Provincial Government of Canada or the United States of America?" The form states providing false information will result in "rejection of your application or termination of your employment." The changes were also necessary to prevent the Hells Angels from gaining access to large quantities of high-powered explosives, Banga said. He noted the threat for denying an explosives certification to one Hells Angel, and the fact that Xtreme has just received its biggest ever blasting contract at a Saskatchewan potash mine. Five men - some with Hells Angels connections, some with troubling criminal records, and some with both - were not hired back last month. Banga said he's not against the Hells Angels - he remains personal friends with several of them. But as an employer who awards cash bonuses for performance, safety and attitude, he said he is against employees who create an unsafe workplace. "I'm sure some of them are gonna be a bit crusty, but I can't have that going on here," Banga said. Banga is being lauded by an internationally recognized expert on the Hells Angels. "Wow. This man is a true leader," said Yves Lavigne, author of Hells Angels at War and Hells Angels Taking Care of Business. "He is doing something no other business has in this country. Lavigne, who has researched the Hells Angels for nearly 40 years, said Hells Angels rely on intimidation and Banga could give other individuals and businesses across Canada the courage to take action. Lavigne, who called Hells Angels "lazy parasites" who feed off others, said preventing them from accessing explosives is the biggest issue. "That's a huge concern. They would've sold it. People would have died. (Banga) is protecting people," he said. Lavigne said the developments and resulting publicity will not be looked on favourably by other Hells Angels across North America. "Attention is bad for business," he said. Xtreme workers interviewed said they appreciate what Banga is doing. They said Banga could not have acted sooner, as they were afraid to tell him or anyone else. A few employees who quit after being threatened or attacked are considering returning, they said. When asked about morale at Xtreme, one worker replied; "We were all scared to talk about it - they were H.A. We're all very happy now." © Copyright (c) The StarPhoenix ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Aug 2013 00:29:57 -0600 From: Larry James Fillo Subject: "Charles Adler and former Conservative Cabinet Minister M.P. ... ...Monte Solberg defend the Right of Self-Defence"-SunnewsTV Important discussion. http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/straighttalk/archives/2013/08/20130823-070742.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Aug 2013 07:28:49 -0700 From: "Clive Edwards" <45clive@telus.net> Subject: RE: "Mine firm ousts Hells Angels" Of course the Hells Angels members fired for intimidation and violence will all have their firearms licenses cancelled, their firearms seized and be given five year prohibitions against possessing firearms. We know it has happened hundreds of times already in Canada as admitted in 2005 where CPIC had been breached some 1400 times along with the gun registry information. We don't know how many times it has been breached or hacked since. In Canada we have the patently obvious use of "destroyed" long gun data to target gun owner's homes after the High River "extended evacuation" for the purpose of confiscating guns. What other reason could there be for the RCMP to raid at least one home that we know of THREE TIMES before finding the two long guns they "knew" were in the home, but were exceptionally well hidden "in plain sight?" It would seem that many detachments and perhaps even the headquarters of the RCMP have "copies" of the "destroyed" data and are using that data to attack legitimate gun owners. If so isn't that a criminal offence to disregard legislation and openly defy it?? That is one of the most important questions that ought to be answered in the "inquiry." Since a great many of the targeted homes had guns but no "PAL/POL" the RCMP must have been using old FAC records and perhaps even Provincial hunting license archives to determine which homes to invade. We are definitely entitled as citizens, to know the truth about the break ins in both High River and previously the "evacuated" locked homes in Slave Lake for the admitted sole purpose of confiscating firearms. If the RCMP are "above the law" then where does that leave citizens they are sworn to "serve and protect?" It seems they have forgotten that oath. That is the most tragic result of the vicious firearms laws in Canada that attack and "paper" criminalize ONLY the honest, and make criminals so much safer as they merrily and safely go to their next home invasion. As to the article below, it reminds me of the 2004 Albina Guarnieri report that the Liberals made a "cabinet secret" to be locked up for decades after commissioning it at public expense. They didn't like the results and so hid them from those who paid for it. Freedom of Information (FoI) requests and review by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) have failed to bring to light the content of the 2012 Australian Crime Commission (ACC) National Illegal Firearms Assessment (NIFA) report. International Coalition for Women in Shooting and Hunting (WiSH) Chair, Dr Samara McPhedran, said “It is beyond belief that only a handful of carefully chosen dot points out of a 99 page document can be released.” “We have to ask: what could be so embarrassing that state, territory, and federal governments are determined to keep it quiet? What policy failure could be so damaging to governments’ reputations if it became known?” “The past few months have seen growing revelations about an ongoing and complete lack of security of firearms registry data across multiple jurisdictions.” “Most recently, a concerned sergeant within the New South Wales Police Force has raised serious fears that details of hundreds of thousands of firearm owners and legally owned guns have fallen into the wrong hands, via the gun registry.” The ACC specifically name New South Wales as a jurisdiction where police representatives have argued against further information being released from the report. “This begs the question of whether the report has implicated firearms registries as taxpayer-funded, government-run shopping lists for criminals,” said Dr McPhedran.
