Morgan's anti-gun tirades became trademark on Piers Morgan Live, especially after the Sandy Hook massacre, when he appeared to have lost all semblance of civility, and all ability to conduct an objective interview or even level-headed debate. Morgan's abuse of those he interviewed reached fevered pitch after he screamed at John Lott during an interview, would not allow him to finish a sentence, and then infamously ridiculed Dr. Lott's appearance, writing that wanted to "reach across the desk and slap" Dr. Lott's alleged "half-smirk" off him. With "anti-violence" advocates like Morgan using their media pulpit to air their violent tendencies, is it any wonder Americans are glad they no longer see his sneering visage on their television screens? John Lott wasn't the only victim of Morgan's hoplophobic vitriol. In an "interview" with Alan Gottlieb, Morgan claimed the Second Amendment Foundation founder was an "idiot" for holding "Guns Save Lives Day" to coincide with the first anniversary of the Sandy Hook massacre and accused him of exploiting the anniversary of the shooting to promote the fact that law-abiding citizens save lives every day with guns. This made us wonder what is it exactly Morgan thought he was doing by flogging the Newtown tragedy in order to promote his own agenda. Pointing out that just one armed, responsible human being could have stopped Adam Lanza before he took all those lives is bad. Using the tragedy to promote an agenda that will invariably lead to another Adam Lanza taking advantage of vulnerable prey is good. That's the world according to Morgan. Morgan also called Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America an "incredibly stupid man" in an incredibly pompous, arrogant manner during one of his post-Newtown attempts to discredit gun-rights advocates, and screeched at Ben Shapiro that the Constitution of the United States was "that little book" when the latter argued that the Second Amendment is a part of our Law of the Land. In the end, Morgan's ratings reflected his toxicity, and he finally called it quits on Friday, but not before lobbing some parting shots at his favorite target -- the "gun lobby" "The gun lobby in America has bullied this country's politicians into a cowardly silence," he hectored, one last time. "My point is simple: more guns doesn't mean less crime, as the NRA repeatedly tries to tell you." He alluded to those who have called him anti-American. Not so, he said, at his most saccharine. "I'm so pro-American, I want more of you to stay alive." He just doesn't learn. Even in the wake of his abysmal ratings, which he admits were the result of his preaching on gun control (even though, he paints himself to be the victim of those stubborn, uncivilized American gun owners), his final parting shot was at the gun lobby, as if a plethora of scientific research and court rulings haven't proven his anti-gun crusade to be invalid. Morgan was allegedly a journalist -- a journalist -- who was so lazy or so blinded by his own agenda that he refused to believe Emily Miller (probably the only pro-Second Amendment guest on his show whom he did not denigrate and abuse) when she told him that guns save thousands, if not millions of lives each year. So we at JPFO would like to bid a not-so-fond farewell to Piers Morgan. We, Americans, do not like having a pompous Brit denigrate our culture and values. We, Americans, do not like having an arrogant news monkey too lazy to do any actual research on defensive gun uses, use his microphone in a campaign to render us defenseless. We do not appreciate someone who was fired from his editorial job at the Daily Mirror after publishing crudely falsified photographs of British troops allegedly abusing Iraqi prisoners lecturing us about the immorality of holding "Guns Save Lives Day" to promote armed self defense on the anniversary of the day when a tragedy happened to those innocent victims who were denied that right. Nor do we like a bitter little man hurling ad hominem attacks at scholars and activists whose achievements he could not hope to match, and whose level of determination and commitment to freedom he could not understand. And if Piers Morgan happens to find a niche with a medium that appreciates his overbearing, supercilious attempts to influence public policy and render Americans defenseless, even after his puny ratings showed his style and subject matter to be lacking, don't say we didn't warn you! ----- Nicki Kenyon has been an avid gun rights advocate since she returned to the United States from an overseas Army tour in Germany. While I agree completely regarding almost all of that you I think missed the point. It is not that they are just prisoners.. but the article in question was about the authorities of prisons not being allowed to punish prisoners whom are misbehaving not about why they are prisoners in the first place. It makes even less sense than to say an adult in a daycare cannot impose a suitable punishment on kids that are misbehaving. The fact they are in a daycare is in essence irrelevant to the fact that the kid(s) in question are misbehaving. It happened on the 400 block of Prince Albert Street, near St. Laurent Boulevard, at about 12:30 a.m. Monday. Witnesses told police they heard multiple shots being fired. One round was fired through the exterior east-side wall of the home and the bullet lodged into an interior wall. No one was injured. At least one vehicle was seen leaving the area. Investigators with the guns and gangs unit are combing through witness reports to gather a description. Acting Staff Sgt. Ken Bryden said this latest shooting does not appear to be related to other recent shootings in Ottawa, also in which no injuries were reported: • On March 13, a drive-by shooting near Heron Road and Jefferson Street led to a four-vehicle crash just blocks away. • On March 26, a white Chevrolet Impala driving east on Walkley Road near Cedarwood Drive was hit with six bullets. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I preferred the old days, when the Parliamentarians duked it out on Parliament Hill. Sara Chapel is not only encouraging her staff members to bring their tools of self defense to work with them, but she's keeping a firearm in the stand just in case it's needed. This is a refreshing change from cowards who insist their employees remain defenseless while on the job, and even punish and fire their workers for daring to stand up to armed thugs! Yes, we're looking at YOU, Shell station in Nashua, NH and you, Dominos. The video from the last robbery attempt at Jitterz Java shows that the employee merely had to grab her firearm to make the would-be thieves soil themselves in fear and run away after trying to break their way into the store through a drive-through window. As it happens in so many self-defense cases, all the potential prey had to do was brandish the firearm to stop the crime. Researcher John Lott writes in More Guns Less Crime, that "in many defensive cases a handgun is simply brandished, and no one is harmed ..." This may be one reason why recorded instances of defensive gun uses in America seem to fall short of actual incidents. Since no one is harmed and the firearm is never discharged, police are never notified. Customer response appears to have been positive so far, with shop patrons encouraging employees to take responsibility for the safety of their place of work and themselves, and thus far there has been only one vocal, condescending arrogant misogynist who opened his maw and spewed forth an offensive generalization about armed women. "Whoa, maybe you girls shouldn't have them because when you're angry you do things you shouldn't," he reportedly said. Really? What, no PMS reference to complement the obnoxious, reprehensible bigotry? Fact is women serve in America's and other nations' armed forces, participate in shooting competitions, and hunt. Gun ownership among females is on the rise, and we have seen no increase in negligent or overreactive discharges as a result. And yet, this "women are too emotional to use guns" argument has been used as justification by petty tyrants in three-piece suits to deny the right to self defense for all students on college campuses. The owner of Jitterz Java correctly believes that everyone deserves the ability to protect themselves and to take personal responsibility for their own safety, and despite the thankfully rare bout of misogynistic ignorance, it appears the response to the coffee shop's "protect yourself and your place of employment" policy has been overwhelmingly positive. Unlike the sniveling, hoplophobic crybabies who haunt the grunge scene-y, fluffy couches of Starbucks, and who demand a ban on firearms, circulate petitions and arbitrarily call police whenever they see an armed citizen, this shop actively encourages armed self defense, and its employees set a stellar example! Kudos, Jitterz Java! Here's to a long, profitable existence! ----- Nicki Kenyon has been an avid gun rights advocate since she returned to the United States from an overseas Army tour in Germany. Buchanan 3/28/2014 08:30 AM As the old saying goes, you cannot truly understand a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes. Perhaps Americans, a fortunate tribe, should try to see the world from the vantage point of the Russian people and Vladimir Putin, and, as the poet Robert Burns said, “see ourselves as others see us.” At 35, Putin was a rising star in the elite secret police, the KGB, of a superpower with a worldwide empire. The USSR was almost three times as large as the United States. Its European quadrant was half of the Old Continent. The Soviet Empire extended from the Elbe River in Central Germany to the Bering Strait across from Alaska. It encompassed thirteen time zones. North to south, the USSR reached from above the Arctic Circle down to the Middle East. Beyond the contiguous empire were Soviet bases from Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam to Tartus in Syria to Cienfuegos in Cuba. Consider, then, what the last dozen years of the 20th century must have been like for proud Russian patriots and nationalists. First, the European empire suddenly and wholly collapsed. East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Rumania, Bulgaria all broke away to join the West. The Red Army came home, undefeated, but also unwanted and even detested. The Warsaw Pact, the rival to NATO, dissolved. Eastern Europe, which Russians believe they had liberated from the Nazis at a monumental cost in blood, turned its back on Russia, hailed the Americans as liberators, and queued up to join a U.S.-led alliance created to contain Russia. Then, as Germany was reuniting, the Soviet Union began to break apart — what Putin calls the great tragedy of the 20th century. One-fourth of the nation he grew up in and half its people vanished. Tens of millions of Russians were left stranded in foreign lands. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia departed first, leaving Russia with a tiny enclave on the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad, the old Prussian city of Konigsberg, isolated and wedged between Poland and Lithuania. Russia has no other outlet to the Baltic except St. Petersburg at the top of the tiny narrow Gulf of Finland. Russian warships must now pass between Helsinki and Tallinn even to get out into the Baltic. The great Russian navy of Adm. Sergei Gorshkov is history. This was but the beginning. With the disintegration of the USSR, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova were soon gone. Russia had now not only lost its Balkan allies Rumania and Bulgaria, but all its Balkan borders. Only tiny Transnistria, which broke from Moldova, remained loyal to Russia. But no one recognized it. In the Caucasus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan were gone. Russia had lost its border with Iran, Turkey and the Middle East. As Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan departed, Russia lost half its border with China. Rather than dominating the Caspian Sea, Russia is now confined to its far northern shore. Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan all now have claims on Caspian Sea oil. Came then the eastward march of NATO to Moscow’s front door. As NATO allies Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia occupy the east coast of the Baltic Sea, NATO allies Rumania and Bulgaria occupy the west coast of the Black Sea. Turkey sits on the south coast of the Black Sea, aspiring NATO ally Georgia the east coast. Should Ukraine join NATO, as John McCain seeks, the Black Sea becomes a NATO lake. When Putin defended the seizure of Crimea by saying he did not want to visit Russia’s two-century-old naval base at Sevastopol, and be greeted by NATO sailors, did he not have a point? The vast territorial losses suffered by the Soviet Union would be like the amputations America would have endured had the secession of the 11 states of the Confederacy succeeded in 1865. Our situation would be comparable to Russia’s if we had lost all our states on the South Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, and our ports of Norfolk, Charleston and New Orleans all flew foreign flags. And how would we have reacted if a Soviet Union, victorious in the Cold War, effected the expulsion of all U.S. troops and bases from Europe and brought Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua into the Warsaw Pact? State’s Victoria Nuland says we invested $5 billion in re-orienting Ukraine away from Russia. How would we respond if we awoke — as Putin did in February — to learn a pro-American government in Mexico City had been overthrown by street mobs financed by Beijing, a pro-China regime installed, and this unelected Mexican regime wanted out of NAFTA in favor of joining an economic union and military alliance with China? A U.S. president who landed Marines in Veracruz, as Wilson did in 1914, and sent a 21st-century General “Black Jack” Pershing with an army across the border, would be over 70 percent in the polls, as Putin is today. And if he seized Baja, as Putin seized Crimea, it would be a cakewalk to a second term. Patrick J.
