The Montagues' case (brucemontague.ca) is an example where the police, the Crown persecutor and the Crown's hateful judge needed a ‘political’ conviction. These folks made certain that the Montagues were convicted. They sent Bruce, their political prisoner, to jail and tortured him not because he was violent but because they were angry with him for openly and peacefully protesting the Canadian Parliament's unjust gun law, Bill C-68. Republican Gov. Parties inevitably have their own agenda. It is party discipline that controls MPs, not their consciences for the most part and certainly not their constituents. When I ran in the last federal election I sat next to Mark Strahl, a kid who inherited his Conservative MPship from his dad Chuck, I strongly suspect with the collusion of the Conservative party of Canada and some members of the constituency association. When the audience addressed a question to the candidates I believe I was the only one who could answer honestly, since I was answering for myself. Mark would burst out into a sweat, fumble through the blue binder provided by his boss, the Conservative Party, and mutter out whatever response he found there, even if it wasn't particularly close to answering the question. When asked for clarification he would read the same answer from the binder a second time. The other candidates were better actors than Mark. You could tell the Conservatives were the only party that put the fear of God (Harper) into their candidates to that extent. I can't believe the blue binder wasn't required for all Conservative candidates and woe to the candidate who strayed from it. The Party will decide what dirty tricks are going to be used, whether or not the candidate wants to go along with it. You don't want the candidate on offer? The party will swap her out. With an independent what you see is much more likely to be what you get. The voters get to decide who they want to represent them to Ottawa, not the party deciding who they want to represent Ottawa to the voters. There is nothing from preventing like minded independents from working together on issues of common concern. There will be no party fabricating that concern and whipping the vote. 45clive ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 May 2014 08:49:45 -0600 From: "Joe Gingrich" Subject: Will you help them? Cara Zwibel with the CCLA, said her organization chose the legal response after last month's revelations by the Privacy Commissioner that government agencies make hundreds of thousands of requests a year to telecommunication companies for the private information of Canadians. The YOG Tripartite Commission after final allocation of Universality Places for Asian sportsmen allotted Pakistan one place in 10 metre Air Pistol Women (Youth) category. "We have three athletes in this category. One of them will get a chance to represent the country at Youth Olympics on this quota. As soon as we receive official confirmation from the Asian Shooting Federation in this regard, we will hold trials to select the best shooter," said Executive Vice President NRAP Razi Ahmed Khan while talking to 'The News'. ------------------------------ Lirio, youth shooting club continue busting clays The Moultrie Observer - May 22, 2014 http://www.moultrieobserver.com/sports/x1396860462/Lirio-youth-shooting-club-continue-busting-clays MOULTRIE - While many of the other graduates of the Colquitt County High School Class of 2014 head off to the beach or other vacation points, Tyler Lirio will continue his treks to Dunn Road to continue working toward his goal of making the 2016 U.S. Olympic shotgun team. In fact, Lirio decided to attend Abraham Baldwin College next fall so he won't be far from the South Georgia Youth Shooting Club facility near Hartsfield where he has developed into one of the country's top trap shooters. Lirio has a busy summer of top-level trap competitions this summer and helped prepare for them by shooting in last weekend's Georgia Junior Olympics Championships held at Coach Mike Simpson's facility on the Dunn Road. Lirio was the overall runner-up in trap, finishing behind South Georgia Youth Shooting Club teammate Ryne Barfield. Christian Salvanera of Fayetteville was third. Lirio also was on the Scholastic Clay Target Program's state championship team along with Barfield and Max Milan. The competition drew more than 100 young shooters to Colquitt County to shoot trap, double trap and skeet. Mike Simpson's young shooters dominated the competition. In skeet, the girls high overall was local shooter Morgan Goette, who won over Taylor McCoy of Douglas. The men's state champion was Trey Wright. Nash Sinclair of Eatonton was second and Brock Allen was third. The jury began deliberating at noon Monday and on Wednesday told B.C. Supreme Court Justice Deborah Satanove that it was deadlocked and unable to reach a verdict. At noon Thursday, however, the jury returned to unanimously convict 23-year-old Hannah Azak of the second-degree murder of Ragnar (Ray) Michaelson on July 28, 2004. Azak received the mandatory sentence of life in prison with no parole eligibility for at least 10 years. The judge will decide today if the crime justifies imposing a parole ineligibility period greater than 10 years. "The two weeks of trial have been the most gut-wrenching experience," Robert Michaelson, the victim's son, said outside court. "This woman murdered my father and left him to die in pain." Michaelson was found clutching a phone, suggesting he was trying to call for help after he was attacked in his home. Azak tried to steal his car but crashed it as she tried to back it out of the carport. Neighbours alerted by the noise called police. Azak was arrested walking down the street a few blocks away. She was carrying a bloody butcher knife and $115 in cash stolen from Michaelson's wallet. "Without the neighbours, she would have [escaped]," said the son, who also credited the effort of the Vancouver police, victim services and prosecutors Mike Luchenko and Cecilia Chan for securing a conviction. Michaelson said he hopes Azak receives more that the 10-year minimum for parole ineligibility. "I don't want to see her out in my lifetime," said the 60-year-old former systems engineer at the Port Alberni mill of Catalyst Paper, who took early retirement after his father was murdered. He said Azak -- she testified she was too drunk to form an intent to kill -- is a manipulative liar. Defence lawyer Terry La Liberte had urged the jury to convict his client of manslaughter. The son recalled in his victim-impact statement to the court that his father worked in the fishing industry from age 14 and retired at 73. He later cared for his wife of 62 years, Evy, who had Alzheimer's disease and died 21/2 months before his murder. "The twilight of my father's life should have been peaceful and easy for him, He had earned it," the son said. After the jury announced its verdict, the judge asked the jury if it wanted to make a recommendation of parole ineligibility between 10 and 25 years. Four of the jurors decided to make no recommendation, four decided a period of 10 years was suitable and four chose a period of between 15 and 20 years. After a break while the jury came to its recommendations, Azak returned to court with tears in her eyes. The court was told earlier that she had had a baby while in custody, which has been put in foster care. She was originally from the Prince Rupert area and came to Vancouver with her boyfriend, who became a crack addict in the Downtown Eastside. nhall@png.canwest.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------- Len Miller from Vancouver . . where city council is catering to the criminals Damn ! "He's discovered that if he writes something obnoxious about gun owners it rewards him with massive hits," I told readers at my blog, "The War on Guns: Notes from the Resistance," explaining why I wasn't going to link to the latest anti-gun Esquire screed by Lt. Col. Robert Bateman. "I'm not going to help him get them. "The best way to shut him down is ignore him," I explained. "It's not like the hive minds that agree with him aren't already lost." Besides, I'd already written about that character before and suspected from the way his piece was being shared with irate gun owners that he'd discovered a trick not unlike a lab chimp pressing a colored button to release a food pellet. If he's going to fling offensive materials, let him do so without an audience to continue encouraging foul output. It may appear I'm going back on that decision with this article, but it's not Bateman's subversive attention-seeking that caught my eye this time. It's a more interesting reader comment left under the column by someone who agrees with him, and one that gives us a revealing insight into what passes for the mind of a hostile anti-gunner. "A couple years ago, a gun nut I know was 'playfully' asking me why I didn't get a gun and do some target shooting, which he claimed was 'fun,'" Top Commenter Thomas Cleaver recalled. "I asked him 'If I get a gun, will it be OK to shoot you? Don't worry, I've shot and killed people before, and I'm way past getting upset at seeing you lying on the floor with your brains splattered on the wall. Been there long ago.' "We have never talked about guns since. (And yes, I have shot and killed people. In Vietnam. And that's why I haven't had a gun since.)," Cleaver explained. "But there are days when I think that may turn out to be the only way we deal with these fatheaded morons." There's certainly not much point in having that "national conversation on guns" the antis are duplicitously asking for with this guy, is there? His sentiment does raise other questions, though. For instance, why are some anti-gunners such apparently violent head cases who fear they will lose control, and who then come up with justifications for doing so? What does that say about why they cannot, they must not trust anyone else? And isn't Cleaver's admission an argument for arming ourselves in the face of such potential homicidal maniacs walking freely among us? But why single him out? There are plenty of deranged and ethically-impaired trolls out there. What makes him noteworthy? The thing is, this guy isn't just your average comment poster. He's a guy with Hollywood credits. He's a published author. "I also spent three years in the Navy in naval aviation as an enlisted sailor in the years immediately prior to and during the outbreak of that waste of 58,000 American lives and God knows how many Asian lives, Vietnam," he says in his Amazon.com bio. He was working in the operations office for an admiral, he relates in an online recollection of the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Some comment posters are not seeing a connection, and are asking Cleaver to elaborate on when and where he "shot and killed people before," but so far, he has not responded. Still, as interesting as learning that bit of personal history might be, it's his current state of mind that's most revealing, especially if he believes "there are days when I think [shooting and killing gun owners] may turn out to be the only way." His violently-expressed and bizarre hostility appears to be a classic case of what Sarah Thompson, M.D. pointed out in her brilliant and insightful analysis, "Raging against Self Defense: A Psychiatrist Examines the Anti-Gun Mentality." Looked at in that context, what else would we expect from a raging "progressive" who evidently believes "Humans a cancer on the planet"? Someone who, incidentally, revealed in the bio blurb on his above-linked Navy experiences that "he does take pride that he personally raised $350,000 for Obama in 2008"...? If it's true, as that blurb also tells us, that he "is frequently accused by his fellow lefties of not being left enough," one can only imagine what they must have in mind for any who believe in a different relationship with government than the one they demand.
