While we've seen Youtube/Google demonetize pretty much all channels reviewing firearms based on a claim that guns are not ad friendly content. That is clearly unadulterated bovine fecal matter. Youtube's audience is largely male and the firearms, hunting/target shooting community buys a lot of tools of all sorts, building materials, trucks, outdoor clothing. So do they solicit advertisers for those channels who target their ads to that demographic? No. Funny how that is. Steven Crowder, a Walther fan, now has Walther as a sponsor for his Lowder w/Crowder show. Some have recently be re-instated, others not. Youtube/Google have hired a bunch of S.J.W. to screen content for them. So it will be chaos until this shakes out and we see if they truly want to go after the male demographic that makes up much of the youtube audience. Channels supporting freedom speech most of them now use patreon or other funding sources independent of youtube, who no one any longer trusts. And while not trying to minimize the tragedy of each one of these, we also had close to 4,000 fatalities related to opioid/fentanyl misuse in 2017. In an era of scarce resources, what should our governments concentrate on? By Mark Stead, Calgary Sun - March 4, 2018 http://calgarysun.com/opinion/letters/letters-to-the-editor-march-4 The federal Liberal party has promised additional gun control legislation in Canada. In light of the recent gun-focused tragedies in the U.S., I am sure many Canadians are saying, 'It's about time.' What these same Canadians may not be aware of is that Canada already has comprehensive gun laws already, and has for many years. So even more laws are better, right? Well, it depends on who you are trying to control. Owning any firearm in Canada legally already requires an extensive licensing process of the potential owner. A firearms licence is much, much more difficult to obtain than, say, a driver's licence or a passport in Canada. Despite what the media would lead you to believe, firearm fatalities in Canada have been on an almost steady decline for the last 40 years in Canada. The problem with our current firearm laws is that they are almost completely focused on the law-abiding firearms owner, not the criminal misuse of them. So when governments claim they are 'getting tough on crime', in reality they are only further regulating the law-abiding firearms owner who is not a problem in the first place. In closing, Stats Canada reports we had 172 murders involving a firearm in 2012. And while not trying to minimize the tragedy of each one of these, we also had close to 4,000 fatalities related to opioid/fentanyl misuse in 2017.
